Helping Mr. Russell

I have been helping a gentleman at the Family History Center on Tuesday nights. When he first came in, last December he just wanted to find his grandfather's parents. We have found them and so much more. He has been in almost every Tuesday with his notebook. He has filled out the family group sheets and pedigree charts that I gave him and he is excited to see the information filled in.
I have always believed that every time I help someone it comes back to me. This continues to be true. As part of a class assignment I had to look for a probate record for one of the ancestors in the line I am researching. Several years ago a cousin was collaborating with me on this line. She had found other information about this family in Georgia and I had assumed that she had looked and found nothing for his death so I never looked. Last night I went to the catalog for the Family History Library and searched Muscogee Co, GA. I went to the film notes for Administrator Bonds that covered the time I was looking for. On that page was a link to a digitization of the book. I figured I had nothing to lose so I searched for his name and there he was!
Jesse George Estate Adm West Parker and the date. I know this is him because this is his son in law. Next step...order the film (no link here) for the probates.

Anna Pohlmann

I have located a newspaper article dated April 1900 where Anna was a plaintiff in an action taken against a doctor who ran the Santa Rosa County Hospital. Her action took a great deal of courage for a woman of her time. He was making inappropriate advances to her and a fellow nurse which had led to her leaving her position a couple of years earlier. She is just one of many examples that my female ancestors have set for me as to how to overcome adversity in my life
